Susan Grabarsky represents individuals in disability insurance bad faith, HMO and medical malpractice actions.
As counsel to policyholders, Ms. Grabarsky represents the disabled and chronically ill who are unlawfully denied short-term and long-term disability insurance benefits.
Ms. Grabarsky also handles cases on behalf of patients who have been subjected to unreasonable delay in medical treatment or denial of authorization for specialized surgical procedures.
A member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, American Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, and Consumer Attorneys of California, Ms. Grabarsky has served as guest speaker on professional liability panels at law schools, and has lectured on medical cost-containment and disability management issues for claims professionals.
Ms. Grabarsky's expertise in the area of insurance claims derives from her nine years of experience as a cost-containment analyst for major insurance companies and large self-insured employers in California. Before joining Shernoff Bidart & Darras, she also worked as a medical malpractice defense attorney.
Ms. Grabarsky received her B.A. from the University of the Philippines in 1990, magna cum laude, and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Western State University College of Law in 1999, where she was the recipient of American Jurisprudence Awards in Torts, Legal Writing, Criminal Procedure and Federal Income Taxation. She served as an editor of the Western State University Law Review, was President of the Student Bar Association's Inter-Organizational Council, and was listed in the National Dean's List and Who's Who of American Law Students. While in law school, Ms. Grabarsky also served as a judicial extern for Presiding Justice David G. Sills of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District.
